Like many of our readers — and editors at Clubic, it’s true — you may have an iPhone. What if you pampered him a little for Christmas? After all, he deserved it…and so do you! No question of honoring it with a shell, a case or an external battery: at Clubicwe tend to give in to originality.

Until December 24, Clubic opens a sound box every day Advent calendar 2023 : the opportunity to discover unusual or practical gadgets, gift ideas for yourself and your loved ones.

We have therefore selected for you three original accessories that we have appreciated throughout the year. Moreover, two of them may also appeal to Android fans.

Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe: wireless elegance

In the classy genre, Anker’s 3-in-1 Charging Cube lands a bit there. When not in use, it takes the form of an almost cubic parallelepiped (60 x 60 x 63 mm) whose upper face reveals the circular Magsafe logo.

Your iPhone will love it, and so will you!© Anker

This is equipped with a hinge allowing it to be raised just enough to place a MagSafe compatible iPhone (from the iPhone 12 onwards, therefore). We tried with a 14 Pro Max, currently the heaviest in the family: it fits perfectly horizontally and vertically.

The surface cleared by the “lid” is also MagSafe compatible. You can slide AirPods in to recharge them simultaneously with the iPhone. Finally, a small ejectable tray housed on the right side is designed to accommodate an Apple Watch.

Anker provides a 30-watt USB-C charger with its 3-in-1 Cube that we find perfect for home use, but a bit bulky on the go. We solved the problem by replacing it with the dual USB-C charger from our MacBook Air, which we take with us when traveling anyway.

Of course, “fast” MagSafe charging is not that fast, since Apple imposes a limit of 15 watts maximum. But at least the three devices can be charged simultaneously using a single base, the compactness of which we appreciate.

simplehuman Cleanstation: rapid sterilization

The British from simplehuman, specialists in domestic hygiene, had the excellent idea of designing a smartphone cleaner. Of course, there is no question of running it under soapy water, but rather of using the properties of ultraviolet light. The operation is quick – around thirty seconds – and fully automatic.

Come on, all beautiful, all clean © Simplehuman

At first contact, the Cleanstation irresistibly made us think of a kind of high-tech toaster. Made of stainless steel, it has a slot on its upper side where you insert the smartphone. A motorized mechanism then takes over and positions it inside the disinfection chamber.

Completely secure, it houses 30 UV LEDs which inactivate 99.99% of germs and viruses present on the surface of the smartphone. At the end of the operation, a discreet ringtone sounds and the device is slowly ejected.

We tested Cleanstation with the largest smartphones available today. Everyone enters the sterilization chamber without incident. In some cases, it was still necessary to remove the protective shell which thickened the device a little too much, then sterilize it during a second pass. Ultimately, our only regret concerns its price which we consider too high.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra: simply the best.

A major specialist in audio and active noise cancellation – which he actually invented – Bose offers excellent quality wireless headphones with the QuietComfort Ultra. The Yankee manufacturer ticks all the boxes when it comes to audio quality, noise reduction and ergonomics.

They are therefore equipped with a large touch surface which allows full control of playlist playback as well as the management of telephone calls. Perfect support is ensured by umbrella-shaped tips and a silicone retaining band. Bose provides them in different sizes to optimize comfort of use.

The audio part is also remarkable. The sound produced by the Quietcomfort Ultra is both precise and ample, especially when you activate the immersive audio which we find very convincing. If necessary, you can adapt the rendering to your wishes using the legalizer integrated into the companion application.

The active noise cancellation is close to perfect. Tested by plane, by train, by public transport and in front of (very) noisy colleagues, it gave us complete satisfaction in all cases. It eliminates annoying noises and provided us with a perfect environment to enjoy all types of music. A real success!

Let’s dare to say it: The Bose Quietcomfort Ultra are in our opinion more efficient than the Apple AirPods 2 Pro, and above all much more comfortable to wear over a long period of time. This is the least we can ask for at this price level which makes the Apple brand’s headphones look like low cost models. To acquire them, you will still have to pay 350 euros…

At the time of writing, Amazon is dropping the price by 50 euros, bringing them closer to the competition’s prices.
