Forget New Years resolutions. Better look back at the past year. The best resolutions can possibly be derived from this. That’s why you should ask yourself these ten questions before the end of the year.

The end of the year is a strange time. Somewhere between Christmas stress, cosiness, family quarrels and harmony, the hope is spreading that things will finally be different in the New Year. There they are again, our good old resolutions. But instead of focusing on what we want to do differently in the coming year, we can learn a lot from it if we take a closer look at the last twelve months and ask ourselves these questions:

1. What has this year taught me about myself?

2. Who came into my life and how can I grow this relationship?

3. What should I finally accept in myself and what in other people in my life?

4. How did I deal with unpleasant feelings?

5. How can I better deal with my feelings?

6. How can I take better care of myself and treat myself more carefully in the coming year?

7. Which unhealthy beliefs should I let go of?

8. What more can I practice? What should I do less?

9. Which limit can I set in 2022 so that the year will be more peaceful and calmer for me?

10. What prevented me from achieving my goals and how do I avoid this in the future?

Between the years…

… grab paper and pen and take some time after the busy holidays to review the year. Ultimately, we learn best in retrospect what could have gone differently. What were our barriers and blockages? Where do we have too long Yes said though a no would have been much more appropriate and in which situations do we keep forgetting to take care of ourselves? Asking yourself the really important questions is what will make change possible in the coming year and make us grow. Quitting smoking and doing more sport on the side is nevertheless very commendable.
