Forgetting to take care of ourselves and our mental health is often a gradual process. But there are signs that should alert us to take more care of ourselves.

Often it is like this: We rush from A to B in everyday life, have stress at work, take care of our children or maybe even look after a parent, somehow still want to do sports and meet our friends to have fun and only notice when it’s already too late that all of this may be too much for us. Sometimes life just overwhelms us, the to-do lists get fuller instead of emptying, and instead of shifting down a gear, we tend to increase the demands on ourselves. When the tanks are empty and we’re just out of the last hole whistle, it is not that easy to get back from the red to the green level.

Health on the wrong track

It happens again and again that we lose sight of our health. It’s not always dramatic, but it can be. Strangely enough, there are so many things in our life that come before us and our health. Paradoxically, however, these things are no longer worth anything when we are sick. Therefore, it is important not only to keep an eye on our surroundings, but above all to be aware of ourselves and to be aware of the first signs: “Hey, you are losing sight of yourself. Take care!”.

Signs that show you are not paying attention to your mental health

1. You don’t allow yourself any breaks until everything is done, no matter how you feel.

2. You say “yes” to things even though you want to say “no”.

3. You find it difficult to ask for help.

4. You avoid confrontations.

5. You already feel exhausted in the morning.

6. You suppress or ignore your feelings.

7. You distract yourself instead of dealing with things that bother you.

8. You have the feeling that you are only being controlled by others.

9. You act against your needs and values.

10. You don’t set any limits or ignore them.

Shift down a gear

Do you recognize yourself Then the pace you are currently driving may be too much for you. Maybe you are not giving yourself enough breaks and self-care. Take care of yourself a little better. Eat healthy, drink enough, get enough sleep, be kind to yourself. It’s always so easy to say – we know that – even micro habbits can have a major impact on our mood and well-being. And the most important thing is that we are healthy – mentally and physically.
