Nursing home operator Convivo applies for partial insolvency

Convivo maintains around 100 residential and nursing homes, especially in north-west Germany. Now the company has to file for bankruptcy for some companies. The food supply of the people should be secured. According to Convivo, the wages of the 4,800 employees are also secured.
The Bremen-based residential and nursing home operator Convivo, which operates in several federal states, has filed for insolvency for key companies in the company. That announced Convivo. According to Convivo, it brings together more than 100 care facilities, most of which are located in north-west Germany, and employs around 4,800 people.
Convivo submitted the applications to the Bremen District Court on Monday. The District Court of Bremen confirmed today, Tuesday, that five Convivo companies have filed for insolvency. The court had appointed a provisional insolvency administrator for each company. “The group of companies is aware of its responsibility towards people and will conscientiously accompany the next steps,” said Convivo in the statement. Measures have been introduced to ensure the care of the people cared for. The wages and salaries of the employees are secured through the insolvency money until March. It is not known exactly how many people were last cared for by Convivo. The website says they are taking care of more than 18,000 people.
Convivo cited low occupancy rates in the area of inpatient care as one reason for filing for insolvency. The use of temporary workers caused high costs. The federal government’s care reform also had a negative impact on the company. Convivo also named price increases as a reason – for example in the case of indexed leases.
