1100 marched through Linz – “More people in vaccination streets than at the demos”

On Sunday there was the next big demo in Linz against the corona measures, the police counted around 1,100 participants. It all went off without any major incidents. Likewise in Steyr and Schärding. Vaccination opponents and skeptics also protested in other cities in Austria. But in comparison, more people came to the spades than to protest.

71 rallies (34 of them on Sunday, including in Linz, where three demos were registered), 845 reports (771 in Vienna, 32 in Linz), nine arrests: This is the balance sheet for the latest Corona demos. In Vienna alone, 44,000 opponents of the measure, accompanied by 1,400 officials, were on the road on Saturday. The event was co-organized by the FPÖ. Chief Herbert Kickl had once again given the whip. Disregarding the mask requirement Most of the official acts in Vienna concerned violations of the mask requirement. Likewise on Sunday in Linz, where 28 reports were issued for missing masks, three for disorder and one for breach of decency. A large number of police had also been called up in Linz. In the end, the demo broke up into an open-air party with DJ accompaniment. Fewer participants In Upper Austria, the number of visitors to large demos has halved each time in the past three weeks – on Sunday 1100 were still counted, but the number of those who used it has decreased Police officers increased significantly. “The vaccination streets visited twice as many people in the same time as the demos,” Neo-Interior Minister Gerhard Karner tries to put into perspective. He appealed to the many peacefully concerned among the participants not to allow themselves to be abused by right-wing extremists, agitators and fools. Despite all the appeals, the demos will not go away anytime soon. The planned compulsory vaccination also provides explosives, this was the main topic in Linz as well.
