120 firefighters – house in full fire: residents were extremely lucky

“We initially had to assume that there were still people in the burning building. The first respiratory protection team forced open the front door and flames were already coming out,” says operations manager Claus Ebner from the FF Bad Goisern, describing the dramatic operation on Sunday evening.

At around 8.30 p.m. on Sunday, six fire departments were called to the center of Bad Goisern. When they arrived, a residential building in a densely built-up area was already fully ablaze. Initially, the emergency services assumed that there were still people in the house. Shortly afterwards, helpful neighbors gave the all-clear: the two residents, an older couple, were not at home. The Bad Goisern volunteer fire department announced this after the dramatic operation. Difficult extinguishing work This meant that a total of 120 firefighters were able to concentrate on the extinguishing work. This turned out to be difficult because the flames had already spread, the narrow settlement made it difficult for emergency vehicles to drive in and the interior ceiling partially collapsed. Residents helped with drinks “To bring the situation under control,” said Commander Ebner. According to initial reports, there were no injuries. However, the house is probably destroyed. The residents of the settlement showed a nice gesture: They provided the Florianis with hot drinks during their hours of work.
