Huge construction projects are already underway. What is meant here is not only the 170-kilometer-long building “The Line,” but also the new King Salman International Airport, which is scheduled to open in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2030.
By 2030, the airport is expected to handle 120 million passengers, making it the airport with the highest number of passengers in the world, according to Aerotime Hub. By 2050, the number of air passengers in Saudi Arabia is expected to increase to 185 million per year thanks to the airport.
The buildings’ designs are created by the British architectural firm Foster + Partners. 150,000 jobs are expected to be created when the airport goes into operation.
The airport will offer six parallel runways, a sustainable concept with electricity from renewable energy sources and will be 57 square kilometers in size.
According to Worldatlas, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (69 square kilometers), Denver International Airport (135 square kilometers) and King Fahd International Airport, also located in Saudi Arabia, are even larger. This is 776 square kilometers in size.
