1440p support is coming to beta on PS5

The Sony console will finally support 1440p resolution! Indeed, a future system update will bring this functionality in addition to some additional new features.

Like all consoles when they launched, the PS5 lacked some much-requested features when it hit the market. But over the months, Sony is trying to catch up… This is why the Japanese manufacturer is preparing to deploy yet another beta update for its famous machine. And a major novelty is on the program for this patch.

After an almost endless wait, the PlayStation 5 can now support 1440p video output. On compatible screens, this mode is accessible via the “settings” tab of the console. You must then go to the “screen and video” category and then press the X button on “resolution”. Sony says that games with a higher native resolution (in 4K) will benefit from better anti-aliasing if they are launched in 1440p.

Appreciable amenities

This novelty did not come alone. Indeed, the beta update brings some additional elements such as the ability to create game lists from the library. The player can create a maximum of 15 lists that can contain up to 100 titles each. In addition, a tool that compares 3D audio to stereo has also been included and access to current activities has been simplified.

Sony has in passing emphasized the social dimension of its console. During a Party (ie an online conversation), it will be possible to request screen sharing from a friend via a dedicated button. New notifications indicating the possibility of joining in game a member present in a Party will be topical. Finally, voice messages but also stickers can be sent within a discussion.

Keep in mind that the beta update is only available for download by selected players. The patch will roll out on a larger scale later this year.
