15 back-to-school trends for 2021 that will make us fall for it

Spotted on the catwalks, the fall-winter fashion collections are landing in our favorite stores. Focus on the major trends that will punctuate the start of the 2021 school year.

Spotted on the catwalks of Fashion Week last February, the fall-winter trends hit stores at the end of August. If they sound like the end of the holidays, their arrival helps us above all to prepare for the recovery that is looming on the horizon. Myriad of prints and flamboyant colors appear on the pieces of the new collection.

Under the sign of Indian summer, we find lilac, pink, metallic, khaki… Shades that will brighten up and soften our return to school. From the party look to the chic “ski outfit” through the preppy style, the total leather look, the faux fur and the sharp accessories, it must be admitted, this year, the fashion program promises to be busy! A short guide to the most stylish trends for this fall-winter 2021.

Vitamin colors

At the start of the school year, we forget the monotonous colors and we put everything on shades full of pep’s: blood orange, klein blue, chick yellow, green, fuchsia … The vitamin looks prolong the summer a little so we dare the color-block outfits the most daring!

Metallic

Chanel initiated the movement, closely followed by Balmain. It is therefore indeed a fashion statement: this season, gold and silver are interfering in our winter wardrobe, for our greatest happiness! Metallic is featured on tops, dresses and other accessories and we love this little bling-bling touch that will upgrade outfits that are a little too basic.

The Lilac

All the brands are unanimous on this, the star color of the season is lilac. A true chromatic obsession, this soft shade turns out to be cheerful enough to awaken winter looks. Its great added value? It goes very well with beige, white, gray and khaki, allowing to multiply the associations.

Khaki

We admired this trend at Loewe, Dior and Simone Rocha. It’s a fact, this winter, it will be khaki! A news that should delight the greatest fashionistas, especially since this shade sublimates all skin tones. We therefore hasten to integrate dresses, jumpsuits and army coats into our winter wardrobe.

The evening look

As Audrey Hepburn proclaimed, “life is a party”… so you might as well be dressed for! Rhinestones, feathers and sequins made the show on the catwalks of the last Fashion Week. A festive air that now comes in precious slip dresses, flashy stilettos and glittering XXS bags. No need to change after work, we go straight to the evening!

The chic “ski outfit”

Stylish down jacket, chunky knit sweaters, balaclava, Moon Boot and other couture après-ski… Spotted at Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana – to recite nobody else but them ! – all the essentials of winter sports are reinterpreted in the city. So we go out well equipped against the frost, but still displaying a super desirable style.

The preppy style

This fall, the preppy style is making a big comeback and bringing us straight back to our schoolgirl memories. The best combo to succumb to this trend? Pleated skirt, white shirt, sleeveless sweater and moccasins, the perfect pair to complete this back-to-school uniform.

The “back to the 60’s” look

Spotted at Courrèges and Versace, the sixties trend is reflected in a mix of waders, lady’s bags, big glasses and scarves in the hair… Monochromatic looks but very tasteful.

The leather

We have admired it in a “bourgeois” way at Hermès, in all-over with a maxi hood at Schiaparelli or even in sporty-chic fashion at Celine. If it is definitely tireless, leather is also proving to be the star material of winter… We therefore include in our winter wardrobe jacket, pants, skirt and other well-cut pieces.

Faux fur

In the pursuit of more respectful fashion, brands and other fashion houses are in turn abandoning fur in favor of synthetic materials. Truer fake furs that natures which, in addition to keeping very warm, promise desirable looks.

Sequins

This season, a deluge of sequins seizes the fashion sphere and elevates the pieces that shine with a thousand lights to the rank of must-have. Our recommendation for those who want to get started? The combination of sequined dress, utility boots and bomber jacket, spotted at Celine. A winning combination.

Quilted

On a jacket, a coat or even a handbag, the quilted trend can be found everywhere! That’s good, the fleece fabric will immediately twist an outfit, giving it a casual-chic touch.

The geometric print

Squares, diamonds or rectangles, geometric patterns are popular. We adopt this angular print in the manner of Dior and Valentino.

Leopard print

If animal prints are in vogue again this season (python, crocodile, zebra …) the leopard however does well. It is found on strong pieces such as a coat or a jacket, immediately waking up the monochrome silhouettes. The alternative ? Adopt this trend in small touches, with an accessory: bag, scarf, belt …

The checkered print

Half-rock, half-preppy, the plaid print is a great classic that is making a strong comeback this winter. We wear it on unstructured kilt-style skirts, on dresses or on a strong piece like a coat … It promises a beautiful exercise in style!
