15-year-old victim – attack with a knife over a Gucci cap

A 15-year-old boy was threatened with a knife by a teenager at Linz main train station on Thursday morning because of his Gucci cap. The perpetrator was arrested a short time later by police officers wearing the cap; during questioning he only partially confessed.

A robbery occurred on Thursday morning at Linz main station. The 15-year-old victim from Traun had a Gucci cap torn off his head by an initially unknown person. When he demanded his headgear back, the thief threatened him with a folding knife and left the location in the direction of a restaurant on the train station premises. There the 15-year-old boy met the unknown man again and demanded his cap back. Only partially confessed. He again held the knife to his stomach and threatened him. Only a few moments later, the accused, an 18-year-old Romanian from Linz, was arrested by the alerted police patrols. During his interrogation he only partially confessed. A provisional weapons ban was imposed on him and he was taken to the Linz prison by order of the Linz public prosecutor’s office. “More action necessary” State police director Andreas Pilsl says: “This case shows once again how important the current discussion about a general ban on weapons in public is. Teenagers and young adults are increasingly turning to weapons, and especially knives, to commit serious crimes. I therefore believe that legal framework conditions that give us more control as the police are absolutely necessary.”
