World boxing champion Fury announces “last fight”.

Tyson Fury will fight for the last time in his career. At least that’s what the WBC world champion announced. It is not the Brit’s first resignation. If he gets serious this time, the boxing world would have to bury all hope of a big fight.
Boxing world champion Tyson Fury wants to end his career after the world heavyweight fight against compatriot Dillian Whyte on April 23. “This will be the last fight of my career,” Fury said during a press conference, adding: “$150 million in the bank, young, healthy. I’m going to buy a huge yacht abroad.” Fury had his last world title fight in October after eleven rounds with a knockout victory over American Deontay Wilder. Whyte is the official challenger to Fury, who is unbeaten in his 32 professional fights.
If the world champion implements his announcement, the boxing world’s hope of a mega fight between Fury and the other big names in heavyweight has burst: it was actually expected that the Briton would fight against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk or would box his compatriot Anthony Joshua.
“Next I’ll fight Dillian Whyte and then there’s a little stinker named Usyk waiting, who I’ll let rot completely. This middleweight,” Fury had said in early February clear words in the direction of the Ukrainian, who only rose to heavyweight in 2019 and since then three fights in the highest weight class denied. And with an impressive performance defeated the ex-champion Joshua – who Fury just thinks is a “big old bodybuilder”. “I don’t want to hear how good Usyk is. Let him fight a real heavyweight first. First he fought a worn-out Dereck Chisora and almost lost. Then he fought a bodybuilder who’s not even a boxer . And it was a matter of life and death for him too,” said Fury, who said: “Until he fights a real fighter, you can’t call him a champion.”
Usyk and Joshua will have a rematch. “Usyk will beat him in the rematch. Because ‘AJ’ is a sucker, he can’t fight. He’s been exposed. He’s a crossfit sucker. That’s all I have to say,” Fury said. that all heavyweight paths led through himself. “And if he [Usyk] can beat me then I’ll say he’s a good fighter. But if he doesn’t make it, then I’ll keep saying he’s useless.” The rematch between Joshua and Usyk hasn’t been scheduled yet, but now there won’t be a showdown between Fury and the winner anyway.
A resignation of the controversial showman would hit the boxing world hard. “Even Tyson Fury sells against his own shadow,” the 33-year-old said at the press conference about the fight against Whyte – and he’s probably right. The “Gipsy King” first announced his retirement in 2016: “Boxing is the saddest thing I’ve ever done,” he tweeted at the time. “I am the greatest, and I am also in retirement.”
In November 2015, Fury surprisingly defeated Wladimir Klitschko on points, but there was no rematch because Fury was banned for a doping offense. He withdrew his resignation in 2016 after a few weeks: “Hahahaha, you think you can get rid of the Gypsy King so easily. I’m here to stay,” he tweeted. In a second tweet he wrote: “As soon as I feel better I will defend what is mine: the heavyweight throne.”
