The fact that all ages are affected by the rise in prices was also shown by the fact that all groups were represented, from the youngest to the elderly. “We don’t see that oil companies are making billions in profits at our expense – that’s why we’re asking prices down!” Was one of the messages that was greeted by the demonstrators with applause and whistles To his delight, ÖGB organizer Wolfgang Waxenegger was able to register the 1,500 participants he was aiming for, which was also confirmed by the police. Günay Coksürer, chairman of the Styrian trade union youth, emphasized that the crisis is also affecting young people: “We have the impression that young people are not being looked at at all at the moment, that they are simply not being noticed. That’s why it’s a strong sign today that so many young people are there and show that the situation also affects them in a very special way.” Peter Bernthaler, Kronen Zeitung
