Letter of responsibility for Amazon arson attack in Berlin surfaced

In Berlin, 16 Amazon vans are allegedly set on fire by unknown people. A letter of responsibility appears on the Internet in which left-wing extremists confess to the crime – and announce further actions.

A letter of responsibility for an arson attack on 16 Amazon vans in Berlin has been published on a left-wing scene portal. The authors write that at least 16 vans were “sustainably slowed down” using “six incendiary devices”.

The vehicles were set on fire on the night of May 1st in the company’s commercial parking lot in Berlin-Wittenau, a police spokeswoman confirmed. Investigations are already underway into suspected arson.

In their letter, the authors also make direct reference to a demonstration in Berlin on Labor Day and announced further actions. “There are endless arguments and opportunities to attack companies like Amazon and Tesla. That’s why we’re looking forward to an exciting week of action against Tesla,” it says.

According to police reports, the demonstrations on the night of May 1st in Berlin were otherwise “mostly trouble-free”. A police spokeswoman said a total of 3,100 police officers were deployed at the five gatherings in the capital on the so-called Walpurgis Night. According to this, there were four arrests on site, and in some cases “colored eggs” were thrown and pyrotechnics were ignited. The Berlin police also reported individual attacks on emergency services.

From 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the traditional demonstration “Revolutionary May 1st” is expected in Berlin with thousands of people marching through the districts of Kreuzberg and Neukölln. The police are represented in the capital with several thousand emergency services.
