Last April, we learned that Searchlight Pictures was planning a remake of the cult 80s comedy, The Wars of the Roses.

In the 1989 film directed by Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner played Oliver and Barbara Rose, a happily married couple. But beneath this facade of a perfect family lies a real powder keg – based on competition and resentment – ready to ignite as soon as Theo’s professional dreams collapse. The film was a success and grossed $160 million worldwide.

An updated version 35 years later

The main roles will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange, The Power of the Dog for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor) and Olivia Colman (awarded the Oscar for Best Actress for The Favourite).
