176 km/h on the A12 – Far too fast on the freeway because of a sick cat

On Saturday, a 27-year-old local drove in a taxi (without passengers) at an enormously increased speed on the Inntalautobahn. The reason he gave was that he urgently needed to go home to his sick cat.

Around 2.30 p.m., a local (27) drove in a taxi (without passengers) on the A12 Inntalautobahn between Wattens and Hall in the direction of Innsbruck. The speed limit there is 100 km/h, apart from the wintry conditions on this Saturday: due to the fog and snowfall, visibility was significantly restricted, and there was also slush on the road. However, that did not stop the 27-year-old from speeding down the autobahn at 176 km/h – later 169 km/h. Reason for rage: sick cat. He only slowed down when he passed a slower column of vehicles to which he practically forced to do so. According to the police, the required safety distance to the vehicles in front was clearly undercut. As justification for the frenzy, he stated that he urgently needed to go home to his sick cat. That should have been delayed a bit, because the driver’s license was taken from him on the spot and he was forbidden to continue driving.
