In the living room of the house, an 18-month-old boy was found in a large dog cage. "Everything that this child has is in this niche", said Sheriff Monte Belew, quoted by Channel 5 Nashville.
Next to the child were boxes containing hundreds of living mice, as well as a 3 meter long boa constrictor, and that's not all. In total, nearly 600 animals were found on the site, including 531 rats, hamsters and mice, 3 flying phalangers, a pheasant, 10 rabbits, 4 parakeets, 8 snakes or 56 dogs. Located in an isolated location, the condition of this hidden property from view shocked more than one. The ground was strewn with excrement, cockroaches, maggots … On the site were also discovered 17 weapons and 127 marijuana plants.
Three people arrested
The parents of the 18-month-old boy were taken into police custody, along with the man’s grandfather. They are notably prosecuted for aggravated mistreatment on children, aggravated mistreatment on animals, cruelty on animals, possession of a firearm and production of marijuana. “They wanted to live their lives as they see fit. We had to explain to them that there are rules ”, added the sheriff. The three will be brought before a judge on June 30. The animals and the little boy were collected.
