Storm jewel-less Nurembergers stumble in Wiesbaden

The club had already made a mistake against VfL Osnabrück (2-2) on the previous match day when the bottom team equalized in stoppage time in the second half.
The Nuremberg team had significantly more of the game, but Wiesbaden took advantage of their initial lack of attention: top scorer Ivan Prtajin took the lead (61′), but received his fifth yellow card and will miss the game against Schalke 04. Iván Márquez scored the equalizer with a header (70′). The newcomer from Wiesbaden is still moving up to eleventh place for the time being and already has a seven-point cushion on 16th place.
In contrast to Nuremberg’s spectacular 2-1 win in the first leg with three dismissals, things were quiet in the first half: the dominant visitors created their biggest chance through Taylan Duman (32′). But the Uzun representative shot over the box. The 18-year-old, the club’s top goalscorer with 10 goals, was unable to get fit in time.
Wiesbaden were waiting for mistakes, and the tactic worked: after an inaccurate pass in the build-up by FCN goalkeeper Carl Klaus, the hosts won the ball and Prtajin scored his eighth goal of the season with a well-placed low shot. Nuremberg came back after the short break through Marquez, who headed a cross from Erik Wekesser into the far corner on his starting eleven debut.
