The cryptocurrency bridge, or crypto bridge, Nomad was attacked last week by hackers, who managed to steal $190 million. Now the company is offering a reward for returning the stolen money.

Nomad announced on Twitter that it is looking for benevolent hackers to bring back at least 90% of the stolen 190 million.

Appeal to benevolent hackers, or white hat

Benevolent hackers, called ethical hackers or white hat hacker, are well-meaning security experts or hackers who seek to break into secure systems to determine vulnerabilities. They work within organizations and companies themselves or independently, and warn of vulnerabilities they discover. So they do exactly the same job as malicious hackers (or blackhat), but for ends deemed more laudable.

Nomad has announced that hackers who are able to return the full sum of the theft will be able to keep 10% as a reward for their good deed. The company clarified that these hackers would be considered white hat and therefore will not be prosecuted.

Pirates, return the money!

Nomad made it clear, however, that it would continue to work with security agencies as well as the police to trace suspicious flows and identify wallets involved in the looting. In its announcement, Nomad says legal action will be taken soon, and urges the hackers to return the funds. It almost looks like the company is trying to convince the hackers themselves to return the money in order to avoid prosecution…

While the attack only took place last week, Nomad has reportedly already managed to recover 20 of the stolen $190 million. The attack lasted two hours, during which the Nomad team would have communicated little. On the networks, customers are getting impatient with the lack of instructions on what to do, and the lack of transparency on the progress of the attack.
