The Swiss started the slalom season more than successfully compared to last winter. It should continue like this for Daniel Yule and Co.

Last season, the Swiss slalom cracks were only 3 times on the World Cup podium in 10 races. Now in the new winter only 2 slaloms are history, and the Swiss Ski athletes greeted them both times from the podium.

First Loïc Meillard was the first Swiss ever to climb onto the slalom podium in Val d’Isère, then Daniel Yule definitely caused a storm of jubilation with his victory in Madonna di Campiglio on Thursday in view of the successful Swiss start to the season and the 1st World Cup triumph in 2 years .

This winter, in which there are still 8 races in the Stangenwald, it can continue like this. With Yule, who has achieved the first personal victory after almost 3 years, a kind of salvation has definitely spread. After the last two seasons, which were tough for the Valaisian with the corona bubble and material problems, he says: “It was my big goal to win again – it’s really nice.”

The 29-year-old also emphasizes that the success rewards the hard work of the Swiss staff and his ski brand. “I really asked a lot of them to get back to the top.”

Now Yule is first class again – and Meillard is close too. At half-time the Neuchâtel was still on course for the podium in 2nd place, only a threader on the steep slope thwarted his plans. The 26-year-old didn’t dwell on this disappointment for long: “Now there’s a little break, then the next race comes with the next chance. We have to look ahead.”

In fact, for the Swiss slalom riders, in whom Ramon Zenhäusler (7 podium places so far), another athlete wants to find his way back to success, things will be serious again in less than 2 weeks. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 4th they can prove that everything should really get better this season.
