On Thursday August 17, a 2-year-old girl was found dead in her mother’s apartment in Seclin, in the north of France. Several traces of blows were found on his body.
It was a real tragedy that took place in Seclin on August 17th. At the end of the afternoon, when the summer holidays were looming for many French people, the police and the emergency services were dispatched to an apartment located in the Mouchonnière district, more precisely rue Pierre-Degeyter, to ascertain the death of a 2-year-old girl. Named Ruby, this one is, according to the first elements of the investigation, died in the apartment of her mother. The latter was there with her companion at the time of the tragedy and they were both placed, Friday August 18, in police custody.
While rumors of abuse began to circulate in the neighborhood, the investigators who took up the case have not yet been able to determine the causes of the death of little Ruby. Nevertheless, our colleagues from France Blue North report that the girl was wearing traces of blows on the body. A source close to the investigation notably evoked “a swollen face”. An autopsy was performed on Friday and checks are underway, as the first statements from the mother and her companion appear “incoherent”. For the moment, the two suspects have not been charged, because “the investigation is beginning and nothing can be done at this stage”, thus entrusted the police station of Wattignies. The result of the autopsy has not yet been released.

Upset by this tragedy, several people have notably set up a kitty in tribute to Ruby, of which the entire amount collected will go to the father of the little girl. “With grandpa, dad, Ruby’s family, we are setting up this kitty which will be donated to Ruby’s dad and grandpa to organize everything for this little angel who left too soon at the age of 2 and a half”, can we read on the kitty page. If the amount of the latter remains unknown for the time being, around twenty participations have already been recorded, while many Internet users continue to support the girl’s family.
