Finding a gun in a loved one’s bag, a 2-year-old American child died after being shot in the head. This kind of accident is a real problem in the United States.

A drama unfortunately common in the United States. This Wednesday, September 22, a 2-year-old child succumbed to his injuries after being shot in the head … all alone. Indeed, the young boy would have found a gun in the bag of a relative inside an apartment in Waco, Texas. By manipulating it, the object would then have been triggered. Immediately transferred to hospital, the 2-year-old did not survive. The City Police Department announced the sad news in a statement, on its Facebook account. Out of respect for the child and in view of his young age, his name was not revealed.

An investigation was obviously launched to understand what really happened. The 21-year-old owner of the gun allegedly fled after the sounds of gunfire, police said. But the American would have finally surrendered to the authorities shortly after the accident. For now, the young man is taken into custody and is charged “for falsification and concealment of evidence” according to the press release. No additional information has yet been disclosed on this matter.

The many “unintentional shooting” accidents

These gun deaths are all too common in the United States, especially in Texas. Each year, children are particularly affected by this type of accident, according to the Everytown For Gun Safety association: “Hundreds of children gain access to loaded and unsecured weapons in closets, nightstands, backpacks or handbags.” Founded in 2013, the organization has carried out numerous studies since 2015 on these “unintentional shots” which would have caused the death of 765 miners.
