The year 2022 has been marked by war in the heart of Europe, in Ukraine. More than ever, going to see for ourselves to testify seemed essential to us. Since the first day, The world chose to send photographers, without counting, to avoid the propaganda of each camp.
Twenty-seven photographers, throughout the year, followed one another on the front and throughout the country, to show the fights, the shortages, the life and the survival of the populations, the resilience as well as the resistance. We would have liked to show you the situation on both sides of the front line, but, with a few exceptions, we never obtained the authorizations to go to the Russian side.
We have multiplied our forces and our means on Ukraine, while covering the news of the rest of the world, from the questioning of the right to abortion in the United States to the presidential election in France and Brazil, from the mega-fires to the drought this summer, from the migration crisis to inflation and its consequences… We produced nearly 1,300 reports on the ground.
