2022 – Mitsubishi relaunches the Colt, manufactured at Renault in Turkey

MITSUBISHI RELAUNCHES THE COLT, MANUFACTURED AT RENAULT IN TURKEY

PARIS (Reuters) – Mitsubishi announced Tuesday to relaunch its city car Colt in Europe, after ten years of absence, a model based on the architecture of the Clio and assembled in the Turkish factory of Renault.

The Japanese group had decided in March 2021 to complete its European range with derivatives of current models from its French partner, in order to maintain a presence in Europe at a lower cost without changing its strategy of refocusing on Asia.

For Renault, which is also committed to drastic savings to improve its financial situation, this makes it possible to optimize vehicle development expenditure as well as its Bursa plans.

First launched 60 years ago, the Colt has become a name long associated with Mitsubishi’s compact ranges. The car sold around 400,000 units in Europe between 2004 and 2014.

The new model, marketed in the fall of 2023, will be offered in thermal and hybrid versions.
