Defender Dayot Upamecano, already absent the day before, and midfielder Adrien Rabiot were “spared” on Tuesday and exempted from training before the semi-final of the 2022 Football World Cup, Wednesday against Morocco, said the French Federation of soccer.

Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot stayed indoors on Tuesday during the last training session for the Blues. This is the second consecutive session missed by Upamecano, holder in central defense. The Bayern Munich player had already stayed indoors on Monday, without explanation. The daily L’Equipe had mentioned a sore throat to explain his absence.

Chouameni back

Tchouaméni also skipped the collective session on Monday, preserved after a blow to a calf against England on Saturday, according to his entourage. The midfielder of Real Madrid and the Blues, on the other hand, was back in training on Tuesday evening, AFP journalists noted.

The France team faces Morocco on Wednesday (8:00 p.m.) in al-Khor for a place in the final, four and a half years after its coronation in Moscow against Croatia. An absence of Upamecano and Rabiot on Wednesday would be a blow for coach Didier Deschamps who has made them indisputable starters since the start of the competition.
