2023 Lumières Award nominations: La Nuit du 12 takes the lead

La Nuit du 12 by Dominik Moll has garnered the most nominations for the 2023 Lumières Awards. The thriller is in first place ahead of Pacifiction, Saint Omer and Les Enfants des autres. Check out the full nominations.

Which French films will dominate the awards season? Like every year, the Académie des Lumières opens the ball of predictions, by revealing its list of nominees. While waiting to know those of the Césars (the nominations will be announced at the end of January 2023), the Académie des Lumières, made up of journalists from the foreign press (130 correspondents from the international press, representing 40 nationalities from all continents), gives a first overview of the most noticed and appreciated French films of the year.

With 6 nominations, The Night of 12 by Dominik Moll is in the lead, ahead of Pacifiction – Torment on the Islands by Albert Serra (5 nominations), Saint Omer by Alice Diop and The Children of Others by Rebecca Zlotowski (4 nominations each) . These four feature films will be in the running for the Lumière Award for Best Film along with Revoir Paris by Alice Winocour. We also note 4 nominations for L’innocent by Louis Garrel and 3 for Vortex by Gaspar Noé.

The winners will be announced on Monday January 16, 2023. The 28th ceremony, organized by the Académie des Lumières, will be an opportunity to award its 13 prizes (film, director, actress, actor, female revelation, male revelation, first film, animation, documentary, international co-production, image and music).
