If the bonuses and financial compensation promised in compensation for their commitment during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are not quickly released, the Alliance police union threatened on Tuesday to disrupt the journey of the Olympic flame.

The Alliance police union threatened on Tuesday to disrupt the journey of the Olympic flame if the bonuses and financial compensation promised in compensation for their commitment during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are not quickly released. The “police officers and all agents of the Ministry of the Interior are taken hostage by Matignon and Bercy who knowingly block all agreements” linked to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, writes the union in a press release. “Nothing is moving”, “the cup is full!”, adds Alliance, one of the main police unions.

“Warning Shot”

The union and its partners are planning a rally on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Vélizy-Villacoublay (Yvelines), where the “CRS flame” is due to arrive, named after a sporting challenge carried out in recent weeks by this body of the national police. If this “warning shot” is not enough, “other actions will be taken,” warns the union. “We do not refrain from disrupting the route” of the Olympic flame which is due to arrive on May 8 in Marseille, he adds.

The other main police union, Un1té (formerly SGP Police Unit) for its part called for a rally on Tuesday April 30 in front of the Ministry of Finance for Bruno Le Maire to release the financial compensation. At the end of January, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced an exceptional bonus, increased to 1,900 euros for police officers and gendarmes working in Ile-de-France, paid by the State in compensation for the mobilization of forces order during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held from July 26 to August 11 and from August 28 to September 8, respectively. To this bonus is added compensation of 50 euros per night for all police officers displaced for at least five days on security missions or in connection with the 2024 Olympics.
