PARIS (Reuters) – Three-time Olympic champion Marie-José Pérec is one of eight personalities selected to board the Maxi Banque Populaire XI boat for the Olympic torch relay, the Games Organizing Committee announced on Monday Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.

Marie-José Pérec will cross the Atlantic from Brest, on June 7, to Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), on June 15, with Miss France 2013 Marine Loiseau, actor Alexis Michalik and chef Hugo Roellinger.

The boat will resume its journey towards Martinique on June 16, with another crew composed of the double Olympic fencing champion and former Minister of Sports Laura Flessel, the ex-swimmer Coralie Balmy, the skipper Kéni Piperol- Dampied and surfer Thomas Delierre.

These two crews will accompany Armel Le Cléac’h and Sébastien Josse, the usual skippers of the Maxi Banque Populaire XI and winners of the last edition of the Transat Jacques-Vabre in November 2023.
