21-year-old Syrian – First indictment after Halloween riots is ready

The Linz public prosecutor’s office has now filed a first charge after the riots that caused excitement and riots in Linz on Halloween night. A 21-year-old Syrian faces up to three years in prison.

The public prosecutor’s office in Linz has now completed the charges against the young man – the ORF reports on early Wednesday afternoon. The Syrian has to answer in court for serious communal violence and attempted serious bodily harm. He faces up to three years in prison. The 21-year-old Syrian asylum seeker (he cannot be deported) is said to have incited the rioters to the riots verbally and with hand signals. During interrogation, the young man sneered: “The police also enjoyed it.” A 19-year-old Spaniard is also in custody. He threw stones and firecrackers at officers.
