- FC Zurich and Lausanne-Sport drew 2-2 in the 21st round of the Super League.

After 52 minutes everything looked as if FCZ could turn the game in their favor. The Zurich team had just equalized to 2-2 through joker Rodrigo Conceicao and had the momentum on their side. The other joker, Daniel Afriyie, provided the assist. Five minutes earlier, Bledian Krasniqi had reduced the score to 1:2 after a major mistake by Karlo Letica.
Still winless
However, the FCZ failed to win the game completely on their side and the Zurich team sinned in the end. Above all, substitute Afriyie failed to get the ball into Letica’s goal from what was sometimes a promising position. This means that both teams are now on six games without a win in a row.
The Zurich team also claimed some luck in the game: the VAR intervened in Lausanne’s Lucky Punch in the 82nd minute. Shortly before Labeau fired the shot, he recognized a handball. Referee Sven Wolfensberger then withdrew the goal.
This time a weak first half
The fact that the FCZ were 2-0 behind at the break was due to Zurich’s poor performance in the first half. After regularly weak second halves, FCZ showed an uninspired performance in the first 45 minutes on Wednesday.
Lausanne was able to take advantage of this with a double strike before the break. Trae Coyle slipped into a Rares Ilies pass and hit the post in the 35th minute and had to be substituted. Ilie himself made it 2-0 6 minutes later after a rebound from Yanick Brecher.
Day of the premieres
It was Coyle’s first league goal of the season. Rodrigo Conceicao was successful for his “new” club in his 17th appearance for the first time since arriving from Porto in the summer.
At Lausanne, Simone Pafundi had his baptism of fire in the top Swiss league in the 66th minute. The 17-year-old Italian super talent was loaned to Lausanne from Udinese a week ago.

Lausanne-Sport welcomes the leader YB at their home Stade de la Tuilière next Saturday evening. The FCZ travels to Yverdon on Sunday. The FCZ last lost there in the 2021/22 season in the Cup round of 16 after a penalty shootout.
