Fraudsters posing as a Ukrainian timber company lured a Carinthian company into a trap via the Internet with particularly low prices for wood pellets.
At the beginning of August, a company from the district of St. Veit an der Glan became aware of a supposed Ukrainian wood pellet company on the Internet. “In the end, the purchase of a good 23 tons of wood pellets was agreed and the purchase price of several thousand euros was transferred by an employee to a Ukrainian account,” says the police. Pellets never delivered Subsequently, however, the delivery failed and no further contact was possible be made to the supposed company. The damaged Carinthian company reported to the police, who began investigations.
