The 45th edition of the event opened with a collision at the first corner.
The start of the 45th edition of the 24 Heures Motos, given at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday on the Bugatti circuit of Le Mans, was immediately disrupted by an accident at the first corner involving motorcycles N.96 (Yamaha / EWC) and N.74 (BMW / SST) without the race being stopped.
The safety car entered the track in order to neutralize the positions of the competitors while the damaged motorcycles were evacuated.
Another incident at the start, the Yamaha N.7 which had taken pole by breaking the qualifying record failed to start but took advantage of the safety car to join the group in last position.
It was swimming champion Camille Lacourt who gave the signal for the start of this edition, which is reconnecting with its public after two years without spectators due to the health crisis.
