“The children’s grant enables parents not to have to look at the costs when it comes to childcare,” says Claudia Arztmann from the state’s education department. In this way, women in particular can return to work earlier, since the state has been supporting childcare places with up to 247 euros per month since September. The billing takes place directly with the institutions, no application has to be submitted. What is still to be paid are meal fees – and the difference should the facility cost more than the grant limit. But even that could soon come to an end.
