The choice offood is no longer a topic on many modern PCs. However, the latest CPU/GPU could revive the question and FSP seems to be preparing for an increase in needs.

Founded in 1993 on the island of Taiwan, FSP Group is today one of the most important brands in the world of PC power supplies, even if it is less well known than SeaSonic for example.

In addition to renewing its range, FSP Group is trying to score points with a particularly muscular 2,500 Watt model. It’s still hard to imagine the configuration to go with it.

6 12V-2×6 connectors

Unearthed by our colleagues at VideoCardzthe 2024 FSP line-up offers four ranges divided into as many categories: the “mainstream”, the “mid-high”, the “performance” and the “special edition”.

We will not detail this entire catalog made up of sixteen different products which, with the variants, results in 53 references with powers ranging from 350 Watts for the smallest power supplies to the monstrous Cannon Pro and its 2,500 Watts therefore.

The latter is classified in the “special edition”, we suspect that FSP does not intend to sell millions of them. The company also offers a more “modest” version of 2,000 Watts.

80 PLUS Platinum

Beyond just the power displayed by the Cannon Pro block, we will note the presence of the new connector to replace the 12VHPWR introduced by NVIDIA. You know, that connector that tends to melt for some people.

The new socket is called 12V-2×6 and there is talk of offering no less than six on the Cannon Pro 2,500 W block. FSP does not forget the 6 pins however and three connectors of this type are also on the menu in plus the 20+4 port on the motherboard and three 4+4s for the CPU.

For peripherals, there is also plenty to do with no less than 14 SATA and 6 Molex sockets. However, it’s amusing to see FSP point out the lack of a Floppy connector. Of course, the PSU is modular and sports an 80 PLUS Platinum certification.

FSP mentions an efficiency greater than 94% on a “ normal load » and specifies, of course, that PCIe Gen 5 compatibility is ensured. We can bet that the future GeForce RTX 5090 will find a companion of choice in this block.
