Heinrich starts the new season with a double win

Perfect start to the season for Laurin Heinrich (SSR Huber Racing) in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. After his victory on Friday, the Porsche Junior also won Saturday’s race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).

The 20-year-old German started from pole position in both races. “An outstanding weekend! Going into the season with a full haul of points is a great result. Spa-Francorchamps is one of my favorite circuits, so I really wanted to make the double victory perfect,” says Heinrich. His teammate Morris Schuring (Netherlands) and Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) took the other podium places in the second race of the season. 32 drivers in their 375 kW (510 hp) strong Porsche 911 GT3 Cup vehicles started at the double race as part of the FIA ​​WEC endurance world championship.

Heinrich dominated the events at the front over the entire race distance. After the start, the Würzburg driver pulled away from the field lap by lap and won after 14 laps with a lead of 1.4 seconds over Schuring. The Dutchman from the talent pool program secured second place on the 7.004-kilometre circuit. “After missing the podium on Friday, I’m happy that it worked out in Saturday’s race. My good start was decisive, which allowed me to beat Larry ten Voorde in the first corner and improve by one place,” says the 17th driver -year-old Schuring about his best result so far in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

Bastian Buus convinced with several overtaking manoeuvres. The Allied Racing driver started the race from the sixth starting box and moved up to third place. The key moment: On the fifth lap, Buus passed Luxembourg’s Dylan Pereira (IronForce Racing by Phoenix) at the La Source hairpin. “Unfortunately, we didn’t find the optimal vehicle setup until the second race. I was really fast at first and I was also lucky that Dylan Pereira made a small mistake,” said Buus. The podium drivers received their trophies from Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport, and Oliver Köppen, Head of One-Make Cups and GT Sport.

Perfect weather for a successful start to the season

Fourth went to Pereira. The other five places were taken by a quintet from the Netherlands: Ten Voorde finished fifth ahead of Loek Hartog (Black Falcon), Rudy van Buren (Huber Racing), Jesse van Kuijk (Team GP Elite) and Lucas Groeneveld (GP Elite). Michael Ammermüller (Germany/SSR Huber Racing) completed the top ten. In the ProAm class, Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon) completed a one-two. As on Friday, the Luxembourger prevailed against Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany/IronForce Racing by Phoenix) and Ahmad Alshehab (Kuwait/CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin).

“Sunny weather, 32 vehicles and two races on one of the most famous tracks in the world were perfect conditions for our start,” summarizes Hurui Issak, Project Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. “It was an excellent start and the event showed that we can look forward to an exciting season.”

The next two races will be held by the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland as part of the ADAC GT Masters. From May 20th to 22nd, the one-make cup will take place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria. Harald Proczyk drives in front of home fans. The driver from HP Racing International lives in the Austrian community of Apfelberg, just a few kilometers from the race track.
