3-3 Cameroon v Serbia – Two double strikes, six goals and a point shared – Sport

  • Cameroon and Serbia parted at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in the “Swiss” Group G in a spectacular game with 3: 3.
  • In the second half, the Serbs lost a 3-1 lead within a few minutes.
  • The Swiss national team plays the division of points into the cards.

After 53 minutes, the crap at Al-Janoub Stadium seemed to be in the lead. Aleksandar Mitrovic completed a sensational combination of the Serbs, which he had initiated himself with an opening pass, to make it 3-1. Cameroon did not give the impression of being able to react to this backlash again.

But that’s exactly what the Central Africans, who have been waiting for a win at a World Cup since 2002, did. Substitute Vincent Aboubakar brought a breath of fresh air to the offensive – and put himself in the limelight less than 10 minutes after his substitution:

  • 63 minutes: After a long ball to the top, Aboubakar skilfully lobs the ball over Serbian keeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. The connection hit does not count at first because of an alleged offside, but is then declared valid by the VAR.
  • 66 minutes: The lively Aboubakar is launched again with a long ball. In the penalty area he crosses Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who scores to equalize 3:3.

It stayed that way. The Serbian defense did not always present itself up to the level of its tasks. Milinkovic-Savic, like his opponent Devis Mboka, did not have to be defeated anymore. Mboka replaced the actual goalkeeper Andre Onana, who had been banished to the bench for disciplinary reasons.

Nati plays a draw in the cards

Neither the Serbs nor the Cameroonians should particularly like the point sharing. But the national team all the more. For Switzerland, this means that even if they lost to Brazil in the final group game against Serbia, a draw would be enough to progress – although Cameroon is not allowed to win against Brazil in this case. Should Switzerland defeat Brazil on Monday, the round of 16 qualification would even be a done deal.

Serbs are back with a double whammy

After a nervous start, it was the Serbs who had two great chances to score the opening goal through Mitrovic in the 11th and 17th minutes. After almost half an hour, however, it fell on the other side. Jean-Charles Castelletto went off the post from a corner and slotted in to make it 1-0 for the Central Africans.

Measured against the chances, the goal fell against the course of the game. The Serbs were responsible for the corner kick with a sloppy back pass into nothing.

The Serbs reacted to the unfortunate deficit before the break. In injury time of the first half, Strahinja Pavlovic equalized after a central chip free kick from Dusan Tadic. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic made the turn perfect shortly after, defeating the Cameroonian keeper with a low shot.

Here’s how to proceed

How the starting position in “Swiss” Group G will look before the final day of the game depends heavily on the outcome of the encounter between Switzerland and Brazil. The fact is: On Friday, Switzerland will meet Serbia at the end of the group phase, Cameroon will play Brazil at the same time at 8:00 p.m.
