3 cats died – fire in hunting lodge: woman jumped out of the window

The fire in a hunting lodge in the Styrian-Carinthian border area near Stadl an der Mur demanded emergency services on Friday night. Luckily no people were injured, but three cats died in the fire.

A hunting lodge in the Styrian-Carinthian border area near Stadl an der Mur was badly destroyed in a fire on Thursday evening. The 20-year-old resident noticed the fire and was able to escape to safety by jumping out of the first floor window. She was uninjured, but according to the police, three cats may have died in the fire. The cause of the fire was not yet determined. When the emergency services arrived at the building, located at 1,400 meters above sea level, the hunting lodge was already fully engulfed in flames. The firefighting continued until the early hours of the morning. More than 80 people from the Stadl, Einach, Predlitz, St. Georgen ob Murau, Metnitz, Glödnitz and Weitensfeld fire departments were on duty. According to initial estimates, the amount of damage is likely to be several hundred thousand euros, according to a police statement.
