The Oscars are over – long live the Oscars! The glamorous looks of Hollywood’s elite are a feast for the eyes, but rather unsuitable for everyday life. We’re taking a look at three fashion trends from these over-40 women that we’ll take with us into our spring wardrobe.

Last night enchanted us with its adorable gowns and guests. As much as we like to watch the glamorous performances of the actors and everyone involved, as always, we only think about them US. Just kidding, it’s always about us, not just about that Oscar evening. This is exactly why we created the looks of these Over 40 women took a closer look and three fashion trends derived that are great for spring (but let’s be honest, any other season as well).

Over 40 women at the Oscars 2024: 3 details that we copy for our styling

Yes, Hollywood stars usually have mega-toned bodies that look incredible in almost any outfit. Short reminder: That’s her job. Training on rollers, following an individual nutrition plan and looking beautiful on the screen and on the red carpet is her job. Is it your job? No. Does that mean we have to look like this? No.

Actresses over 40 also have the time and the (financial) resources to do sports with a personal trainer and eat a balanced diet. Not to mention treatments, facials and even the odd tip. That’s why it’s very important to us to say that there is no basis for a comparison because the initial conditions are simply different. That doesn’t change just because the stars are over 40. However, these women do a few things differently when choosing their outfits than their younger colleagues. And this Tricks and Fashion trends we can copy it for our wardrobe.

1. Textured materials

As already mentioned, Michelle Yeoh, Greta Gerwig and Sharon Stone don’t exactly serve as the image of the over-40 woman – especially not when their fitting was a team effort and all three are probably wearing at least one pair of shapewear (which there is nothing wrong with). Nevertheless, you can use her choice of materials as an example for your own wardrobe. Because instead of a smooth fabricunder which even the smallest cushion would be visible, they sat down texture. Texture through rhinestones, sequins etc. This is a great tip to flatter your figure. The structure creates unevenness less accentuated, if you want it that way. By the way, this is also the case thick materialslike for example denimthe case.

2. Broad shoulders – narrow waist

Silhouettes Hollywood stars do it like professionals on the red carpet. Clothing can create curves where none actually exist. Certain cuts allow the Waist narrower look and vice versa. If the shoulder area is visually widened, this creates a greater difference to the waist, making it appear narrower. By the way, that was also their intention Blazer with shoulder pads in the 60s – a fashion trend that is also appearing on the catwalks of Paris Fashion Week 2024.

Even though our German hopes in the Oscar sky still have to wait for their award, we are impressed Sandra Hueller with her Schiaparelli gown. No shoulder pads were used here – it would have been difficult with a shoulder-free dress – the Carmen neckline was played with. This expansive detail makes her waist appear even narrower. Tracee Ellis Ross On the other hand, we are not only captivated by her optical swimsuit illusion with her waist, but also with her padded shoulder area. Eva Longoria shows that the accentuation can also be more subtle and still be effective. Not to mention the fact that shapewear is of course also used here and the women already have a narrow waist. However, that doesn’t undermine that Shoulder-waist tip works – over 40 or for women of all ages.

3. Let it flow

We especially love floral dresses in spring, like Pamela Anderson’s Oscar de la Renta piece, which she wore to the Oscar afterparty.

It’s striking flowing cut, which is very flattering to her and us. A lot of fabric that is cut straight and has loose folds is an excellent choice not only for the Vanity Fair party, but also in everyday life. Here you might not rely on glitter and elaborate embroidery (although why not), but on Satin or chiffon. You can sit, stand, and yes, even eat and run in a flowy dress (because the fabric doesn’t stick to your body, so you won’t see sweat stains). The sleeves are particularly beautiful in Pamela’s dress, which flatter the arms in an airy way.
