Certainly the activity bonus reached a peak in the previous quarter, with a mark of 188 euros on average, thus equaling the highest at the end of June 2020 and the end of December 2022. But, the average amount will increase sustainably in 2023while the previous peaks followed an inconstant curve. The average of 187 euros during the 3rd quarter must therefore be read as confirmation of a fairly pronounced increase in aid from CAF. The National Family Allowance Fund (Cnaf) estimates in its publication of December 22 that expenditure on the activity bonus increased by 5.1% over one year.

Between the 1st quarter of 2020 and the 1st quarter of 2023, the number of beneficiaries aged 55 and over increased by 20.5%, compared to 4.9% for those under 55, notes the Cnaf in its quarterly study, without providing an explanation on this increasingly important recourse of older workers and employees to the activity bonus. It is those aged 65 and over who have increased the most (+55.1% in 3 years), ahead of those aged 60-64 (+29.7%) and those aged 55-59 (+15.3%).
Activity bonus: what will change in 2024
Nothing changes, in theory, for the activity bonus on January 1st. Because the annual revaluation (expected around 4.6%) will wait until April 1, and the conditions of access to this social assistance do not change. On the other hand, January 2024 rhymes with the generalization of the social net salary, the new reference income for access to CAF aid. Despite the revision of the calculation of this net social amount in mid-November, the unions fear a shift causing many losers. Will the number of beneficiaries fall?
