The must-see novelties

1. Everything Everywhere All At Once

You probably didn’t miss Everything Everywhere All At Once, the film that created a surprise at the last Oscar ceremony, winning no less than seven statuettes. Available on Blu-ray for €15, and on DVD for €10, the film by director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert is not unanimously received by moviegoers. As with their previous unclassifiable film, Swiss Army Man (Daniel Radcliffe plays a petomanic corpse there, we leave you to Google) EEOAO, for those close to you, is not an easy title to access. Not that it’s complex, quite the contrary, but the Daniels’ film takes viewers out of their comfort zone. Michelle Yeoh, imperial in one of her most beautiful roles, embodies a woman worn out by life, who will confront herself in spite of her many parallel lives. The tale offers much more than its synopsis might suggest, and is a nice metaphysical account. And just for Ke Huy Quan, who offers us the most beautiful comeback of Hollywood, the film is worth seeing.

2. See Paris again

See Paris again is a film by Alice Winocour released in 2022. It is available on Blu-ray for €15 and on DVD for €10. In Paris, Mia tries to rebuild herself after the attacks of November 13, 2015, during which she was injured. Despite such a subject, the film avoids falling into pathos and manages to insert delicacy in a story that is nevertheless difficult. Virginie Efira, awarded a César for best actress at the last César ceremony, perfectly embodies her character. His restrained playing alone is worth the viewing of See Paris again.

3. Three thousand years waiting for you

LikeEverything Everywhere All At Once, Three thousand years waiting for you is a work that divides. Available on Blu-ray for €15, and on DVD for €10, George Miller’s film was eagerly awaited. After the success of the incredible Mad Max: Fury Road, moviegoers around the world were eager to find out what else the Australian director could pull out of his hat. Like a modern tale, the film tells the story of Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) and her encounter with a genius (Idris Elba). The latter offers her to grant three wishes in exchange for her freedom, and then tells her his story to convince her to play along. Miller.

4. Ennio

Ennio is a documentary written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, released in 2021. It is available on Blu-ray for €14.95, and on DVD for €10. As its title suggests, this is a documentary about Ennio Morricone. For almost three hours, the film plunges us into the career and life of the great composer, from his initial training as a musician to his career in cinema. The documentary is accompanied by numerous excerpts from films for which he composed the music, punctuated by interviews with directors and musicians. The very prolific composer has collaborated with the most prestigious directors, such as Sergio Leone or Brian De Palma, to name but a few. This documentary is an opportunity to retrace six decades of cinema, through the prism of its music.
