3 films with Adam Driver to watch on Prime Video

The American actor, revealed with the series Girls then with the saga Star Wars, has become one of the best comedians of his generation. Here are 3 films available on Prime Video, to admire the extent of his talent: Ferrari, BlacKkKlansman as well as The Report.

It’s hard to miss Adam Driver in recent years: he’s simply everywhere. Latest Star Warswhere he played the famous Kylo Ren, until Last Duelin which he played a knight in chain mail, the (very) great actor continues to lug his imposing build from blockbusters to arthouse films.

An impressive career, which is obviously found on SVOD platforms. So, which films starring Adam Driver are available on Prime Video?

Ferrari on Prime Video, a biopic that gets off to a flying start (or not)

We all know the legend, as well as the expensive cars that go with it. But we know much less about the story behind this iconic name: that of Enzo Ferrari, racing driver and creator of the famous brand.

Directed by the feverish Michael Mann (Heat), Ferrari aims to tell us about a pivotal summer, that of 1957. The former runner was then in the midst of a family and professional crisis, after having lost one of his sons, and even though his company was bankrupt. He then bets everything on a perilous race: the Mille Miglia.

With Michael Mann behind the camera, we expected a biopic without downtime, a portrait filmed at high speed to stick to the nervous mind of its subject. But Ferrari looks more towards the Godfatherthat of Formula One: Drive to Survive. If the car racing scenes are perfectly transcribed, we still get bored throughout these somewhat long 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Fortunately, there remains a trio at the top: Adam Driver, unrecognizable as Enzo Ferrari, Pénélope Cruz (Pirates of the Caribbean 4) as his wife, Laura, as well as Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies), stunningly natural.

BlacKkKlansman on Prime Video, a completely improbable true story

What if we told you that the Colorado police managed to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan thanks to a black police officer and his Jewish colleague in the 1970s? It sounds crazy, but it’s the true story of Ron Stallworth, told on film by Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing), in 2018. With the incredible BlacKkKlansmanwe follow this highly risky mission, alongside John David Washington (Tenet) but also Adam Driver, obviously.

Prepare yourself though: BlacKkKlansman is a confusing film. Very politically engaged, the film is a punch against racism, while using the codes of satire or espionage to spread its message. A wacky dive with vintage accents, which nevertheless tells the story of today’s society with astonishing relevance. Bright.

The Report on Prime Video, a well-kept state secret

We end this selection with another biopic (definitely, Adam Driver collects them), with a much more confidential release, like its subject. The Report thus immerses us in the small papers of the American government, after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

But an investigation, led by Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver, therefore), brutally reveals the immoral methods used by the CIA to conduct interrogations, in their fight against terrorism. Torture validated by the highest summit of the State, which is revealed here thanks to monstrous investigative work.

Between the journalistic work of Pentagon Papers and satire Vice, The Report traces this breathtaking investigation with remarkable dialogues, led by a top-notch cast: Annette Bening (Captain Marvel), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Jennifer Morrison (Dr. House) or Michael C. Hall (Dexter). A little-known film, about an equally obscure part of American history.
