L’amour ouf will arrive on the big screen on October 16, 2024. Filming took place between the months of May and September 2023, over a total duration of 18 weeks, in the Hauts-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte regions. Azure.

L’Amour ouf brings together a particularly exciting cast. Two of this generation’s favorite actors will play the main roles, François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos. Both had, for the record, shared the Bac Nord poster with Gilles Lellouche.

Malik Frikah (seen in Apaches) and Mallory Wanecque (seen in Les Pires) will play the two other main roles. They will play precisely the young version of the characters played by François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos. L’Amour Ouf takes place over several eras, and will cross temporalities.

Alain Chabat, Benoit Poelvoorde, Vincent Lacoste, Jean-Pascal Zadi, Elodie Bouchez, Karim Leklou, Raphaël Quenard, Anthony Bajon, Johann Dionnet…

What does it say?

A great, ultra-violent musical romantic love story spanning 20 years! L’Amour ouf will tell the love story between a little bandit and his sassy fiancée, with flashbacks and stories that collide, as summarized by Pierre Lescure in the show Beau Geste on France 2, which devoted a long report on the film.

The screenplay by Gilles Lellouche, based on the book by Neville Thompson, is co-written with Ahmed Hamidi, Julien Lambroschini and Audrey Diwan.

L’Amour Ouf will have the uniqueness of crossing genres. “A mix of genres, notably musical comedy. It’s a teenage movie, it’s a love film…“, develops Gilles Lellouche at the microphone of Beau Geste. “I love the mix of genres. Violence when mixed with humor, irony in the midst of the greatest sincerity. I tried to take a kind of sensory journey“, he continues in the columns of Première magazine for the month of December 2023.

“Not because I think I’m the Martin Scorsese of Melun, but because I can’t tell this story in less time”

In terms of references, the producers salute the director’s love of cinema, which calls on Scorsese, Tarantino, or West Side Story… The film will have an XXL duration, like the references cited…

Gilles Lellouche explains in Première that he warned his producers from the outset that the film would not be less than 3 hours long. “Not because I think I’m the Martin Scorsese of Melun, but because I can’t tell this story in less time“.

For the dance part, the director called on the most sought-after company of the moment: the collective (La)Horde, for which this will be their first foray into cinema.

L’Amour Ouf will be Gilles Lellouche’s third feature film, after Narco and Le Grand Bain. It will be released on October 16, 2024.
