3 million French people forget to claim this free supplement

Three million people eligible for solidarity mutual insurance do not use it. Health Insurance has created a telephone platform to identify and encourage eligible households to subscribe to this mutual insurance.

More than 7.3 million low-income households benefit from mutual solidarity: complementary health insurance free of charge or with little financial contribution. Three million more people are eligible but do not use it. Health Insurance tries to identify these households in order to convince them to join.

Solidarity mutual insurance allows households with modest incomes to cover their health costs, in addition to Health Insurance reimbursements. This mutual insurance is free if income is less than 9719 euros for a single person. The contribution amounts to 1 euro per person per day for beneficiaries whose income does not exceed 13,120 euros.

It is up to eligible people to apply for membership, which they must renew each year. Of the 7.3 million beneficiaries at the end of September 2023, 5.68 million are free and 1.64 million with a limited financial contribution.

40,000 calls already made

In order to find eligible people who do not yet benefit from mutual solidarity, Health Insurance has created a telephone platform. 12 teleadvisors based at the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) of Dordogne Prigueux are responsible for prevent potential beneficiaries throughout France. According to information from Parisianmore than 40,000 calls have already passed.

In 70 75% of cases an agreement in principle from the eligible person is obtained but only 31% of them send a file. If the steps had already been taken, up to 65% of files were finalized thanks to our calls, explained Dominique Pomares, Services and Customer Relations Manager, to Le Parisien.
