Three techniques to keep spiders away from your home

One way to keep them away would be to apply peppermint essential oil to window edges, according to decluttering and organizing expert Anna, who usually shares her tips and advice on her Instagram account @homeset_by_anna. “It’s like a scented barrier that spiders hate“, she specifies. Also, by mixing water and a few drops of peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle, you will have a spray that keeps these little eight-legged creatures away.
To prevent spiders from wandering around on your floor, you can also add a few drops of orange essential oil to the bucket to clean with your usual cleaning product. “In addition to cleaning, this will deter arachnids from inviting themselves“, explains Anna.
Finally, spiders don’t like cinnamon! So, Anna advises putting cinnamon sticks all over the house. It is also possible to light candles with this scent or place cinnamon powder in several corners of the home.
Are spiders really useful?
These three techniques will allow you to perfume your interior, in addition to keeping spiders away. Because it is important not to kill them: they play an essential role. They feed on all the insects that can bother us at home, such as flies, midges, mosquitoes or even woodlice and fleas. Spiders are therefore a natural insecticide that must be left alive. If you ever find one at home but you’re not afraid of it, then take a piece of cardboard or sheet so you can put it outside.
