Since November 1992, ntv has been offering independent journalism from politics, business, sport and society around the clock. Federal President Steinmeier personally congratulates the employees on the big anniversary: ​​”Stay curious, stay critical – and stay tuned!”

Together with around 200 guests from politics, business and society, the news channel ntv celebrated its 30th anniversary on November 23 at Bertelsmann’s Berlin office. On this special occasion, Sonja Schwetje, Editor-in-Chief of ntv, Wirtschaft & Wissens at RTL NEWS, and Stephan Schmitter, Managing Director of Programming RTL Germany, Managing Director of RTL NEWS and ntv, welcomed Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who opened the celebration with a greeting. Other guests included representatives of the parties, business, social groups, churches, the media advisory board and numerous representatives of the media institutions who have accompanied ntv over the years.

In addition, the former ntv managing directors Tanit Koch, Hans Demmel, Johannes Züll and Karl-Ulrich Kuhlo as well as longstanding ntv journalists such as Antonia Rados and Heiner Bremer were among the guests.

The indispensability of independent journalism and the current challenges for reporters were among the focal points of the panel moderated by Micky Beisenherz with Nadja Kriewald, head of the ntv foreign reports, SPD leader Lars Klingbeil, publisher and publicist Dr. Wolfram Winter and Sonja Schwetje, which took place as part of the event.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in his speech: “We’ll stay tuned, that’s the promise that ntv makes to its viewers. I wish our country that many different media will stay tuned in in the future, that they observe, explain, discuss, that they live up to their democratic mandate of informing responsible citizens. Therefore my request: stay curious, stay critical – and stay tuned!”
