For 30 years, ZDF has captivated millions of viewers with its Rosamunde Pilcher films. Just in time for the anniversary, the station is showing four new films. The first, “Headline Love,” boasts a special guest star. TV chef and “Bares for Rares” moderator Horst Lichter (61), who describes himself as a “Pilcher Extreme Fan”, can be seen in a guest role as a butler. The film will be shown on ZDF on September 24 at 8:15 p.m.

That’s what it’s about

Laura Seal (Nicola-Rabea Langrzik), a self-employed gardener in Cornwall, has been committed to her small home town since she was young. When her father, the mayor Francis Seal (Eckhard Preuss), unexpectedly suffers a heart attack, the local council elects Laura to office. With journalist Bob (Garry Fischmann), whose career has taken him to the country, an emotional roller coaster ride begins for the successful and controversial politician.

Many more films are planned

In 1993, Rosamunde Pilcher’s (1924-2019) first novel “Stürmische Treffen” was filmed – meanwhile there are almost 170 films that have been broadcast on ZDF. And the fabrics don’t run out even after Rosamunde Pilcher’s death. “She entrusted us with her little black book, which we should keep well and which is now kept safely in a bank safe,” quotes ZDF producer Michael Smeaton. “We could use this valuable pool of stories and figures for further film adaptations for a long time to come.”

In addition to “Headline Love”, ZDF has announced another Rosamunde Pilcher film for autumn: “Amy’s Desired Child” with Friederike Linke, Max Alberti and Armin Rohde, among others. The films “Breakfast at Tessa’s” with Marie von Reibnitz, Lucas Reiber and Esther Schweins as well as “In Love with a Butler” with Susan Hoecke, Ferdinand Seebacher and Petra Zieser are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024.
