In December, pensioners will also receive a payment of the energy price flat rate (EPP). There are 300 euros for all those entitled to claim and since most people do not have to do anything actively for this, this is a welcome measure.
This means that pensioners are officially included in the group of EPP beneficiaries. The payment is to be processed by the German pension insurance.
But the full 300 euros usually do not arrive in the account. Unfortunately, the catch is that the EPP is subject to income tax is, so that only part of the 300 euros remains. Those who receive a lower pension have a lower tax rate and thus benefit more from the EPP.
