30,000 euro bike – KTM brings a strictly limited 1290 Super-Super-Duke

KTM refines the 1290 Super Duke R to the 1290 Super Duke RR. If you want the super-naked part, you should be quick, because the RR is limited to 500 pieces.

The new top model of the series lost nine kilograms in the tuning cure: Instead of 209, the RR only weighs 200 kilograms with a full tank. The engine output of the 1301 cubic centimeter V2 unit is unchanged at 132 kW / 180 PS at 9500 rpm, the maximum torque is still 140 Nm at 8000 rpm. The standard consumption value is reduced from 6.17 l / 100 km for the R version to 5.4 l / 100 km for the RR.

The technical modifications are varied: The rear frame now consists of a carbon fiber construction with a newly designed single bench seat and integrated rear and brake lights. All trim parts are also made of carbon. The use of a lithium-ion battery saves a further 2.5 kilograms; the use of forged wheels reduces the unsprung mass by 1.5 kilograms.

The refinement also includes the assembly of high-performance WP Apex Pro suspension elements and Michelin Power Cup2 tires. In addition, KTM supplies the 1290 Super Duke RR with a short-stroke throttle, an adjustable footrest system and an Akrapovic rear silencer made of titanium with a carbon end cap. The assistance electronics have been revised for the RR: Instead of three, there are now five riding modes with different settings.

KTM limits the number of units of the 1290 Super Duke RR to 500 vehicles worldwide. In view of this and the considerable expenditure on parts, the price of just under 29,000 euros is not really surprising; the R version, called “Beast” in KTM jargon, is in the price list for 21,149 euros.

The luxury model can only be ordered online from April 8, 2021, 10:00 a.m., production is planned for the end of April. The delivery will then probably take place in early summer.
