Yverdon deservedly won 1-0 at home against Lausanne-Sport in the top flight. Aarau and Wil separate 0-0.

The top battle in the 32nd round of the Challenge League between Yverdon and Lausanne-Sport was by no means a football treat. Yverdon striker Brian Beyer scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute. The 26-year-old received the ball 20 meters from the penalty area and pulled the trigger. Thomas Castella in the Lausanne goal got his fists on the ball, but couldn’t steer the sharp shot over the crossbar.

Lausanne too harmless

Yverdon rewarded himself for an overall more active game. Coach Marco Schällibaum’s team had a chance to take the lead in the first half. Castella deflected a Théo Berdayes header into the crossbar from a corner.

Not enough came from Lausanne to seriously endanger the leader. Ludovic Magnin’s team lacked the last penetrating power in front of goal to catch up with Yverdon in the table with a win.

Draw on the Brügglifeld

In the chasing duel between FC Aarau and Wil, neither team was able to benefit from the slip-up in Lausanne. Despite the support of 6,006 fans on the Brügglifeld, the hard-fought game ended goalless. Although Boris Smiljanics Aarau dominated the game, it could rarely create real goal threat.

The draw has meant that Wil has now overtaken Lausanne and is 2nd in the table. Aarau, on the other hand, has fallen back to 5th place, but is still only 4 points behind the direct promotion place.

Schaffhausen turns game – Lausanne-Ouchy without nakedness

In the other games, Schaffhausen won 2-1 against Bellinzona. The Ticino team took the lead in the 52nd minute with a penalty by Cristian Souza. However, Schaffhausen was able to react to the deficit and equalized just 10 minutes later through Robin Kalem. 7 minutes before the end, Bellinzona defender Lucas Peres saw the traffic light card. Davide Mariani was able to take advantage of Schaffhausen’s numerical superiority with the 2-1 winning goal.

Stade Lausanne-Ouchy joined the top trio thanks to a 2-0 win at home against Neuchâtel. Liridon Mulaj (73rd minute) and Teddy Okou (87th) scored for Lausanne. Uli Fortes Xamax got a penalty in the 94th minute. However, Aimery Pinga slipped when firing the shot and hit the post.
