PSYCHO-PASS

Available on Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll and ADN in VOSTFR and VF.

Psycho-Pass takes us to 2112, Japan. Sibyl, a computer system, has transformed society into the “perfect world”. Thanks to omnipresent cameras, drones and scanners, Sibyl is able to analyze and quantify the mental and moral health of citizens (the “Psycho-Pass”) and thus identify people likely to commit a crime.

When a citizen exceeds the norm, inspectors from the Public Security Bureau, accompanied by their executioners, pursue and apprehend these people to undergo therapy, lock them up or shoot them on the spot.

It is into this world that Akane Tsunemori, a new inspector who has just joined Division 1 of the Public Security Bureau, embarks. The latter wishes to ensure that justice truly and loyally reigns, however she learns that Sibyl’s judgments are not as perfect as her colleagues think.

Created by Production IG, the studio that brought us Ghost In The Shell, Psycho-Pass is one of the most complex and exciting sci-fi stories in history. Looking towards Minority Report, a major work by Philip K. Dick, the anime transports us to a totalitarian dystopian world that strongly resonates with current events, particularly artificial intelligence.

DR STONE

Available on Crunchyroll in VOSTFR and VF.

Three thousand seven hundred years after the petrification of the human race, and while nature has regained its rights, Senku, a teenager passionate about science, decides to bring evolution back to Earth.

From catering to medicine to technology, the boy will have to use his knowledge and superior intelligence to achieve his goal in a world returning to the Stone Age.

Funny, atypical and informative, Dr STONE is an unpretentious anime which takes us on a “crazy exciting” adventure where scientific experiments, philosophical reflections and sociological studies mix.

Accessible for all ages, the series brilliantly popularizes its subject while providing prevention regarding the dangers of certain practices. Creation of glass, examination of ores, scouting in the forest, Dr STONE is the perfect survival kit for learning to get by far from all modern comforts.

We haven’t finished learning yet because season 3 will arrive on October 12. Rated 4.2 out of 5 by AlloCiné spectators, it’s one of the best anime of the moment and it will make you even smarter!

MONSTER

Available on Netflix in VOSTFR and VF.

Watch out, masterpiece! Monster introduces us to Dr. Kenzo Tenma. Talented, respected and engaged to a beautiful young woman, he is a Japanese neurosurgeon who practices in Germany.

Everything smiles on him until the day he decides to follow his heart and prioritize saving the life of a little refugee from East Germany rather than that of the mayor of Düsseldorf. After the latter’s death, he lost his position, his credibility and his fiancée.

A few days later, the director and two other personalities of the hospital are assassinated: Kenzo finds everything he has just lost and even more.

Nine years later, the police investigate a series of murders and Tenma is suspected. It is there that he discovers that the bloodthirsty being who reigns in terror is a shadow from his past, the monster disguised as a little boy whose life he saved nine years earlier.

This adaptation of the cult manga by Naoki Urasawa, creator of 20th Century Boys, offers us a story of incredible depth. The anime combines with rare intelligence detective intrigue and exploration of the human psyche, twisting our minds and the Monster that lies dormant in each of us.

In addition, the post-Cold War geopolitical context makes these 74 episodes absolutely fascinating! One of the best manga adaptations in existence, quite simply.

OSHI NO KO

Available on DNA in VOSTFR and VF.

Murdered in mysterious circumstances, a young obstetrician is reincarnated in the body of little Aquamarine Hoshino, son of a famous idol of whom he was an absolute fan before his death.

Having preserved his memories of his past life, the hero intends to enjoy his new life. But that’s without taking into account the brutal murder of his new mother by an unbalanced admirer…

It’s the UFO that no one expected and whose success was resounding! Initially welcomed as a classic isekai, Oshi No Ko quickly stood out for its fair and intelligent treatment of its subject: the underbelly of celebrity in Japan.

Online harassment, suicidal thoughts, mental problems and media manipulation, the anime addresses all kinds of themes linked to the hidden side of the idol world.

And all this against the backdrop of an investigation, because our protagonist, Aqua, has every intention of finding her mother’s murderer, who is probably part of this environment rotten by fame and money…

BUNGO STRAY DOGS

Available on Crunchyroll in VOSTFR and VF.

In Yokohama, a detective agency with supernatural abilities works to solve mysteries while fighting against the Port Mafia which reigns supreme over the city. But the arrival of new enemies could well force the two rival companies to combine their powers and collaborate.

If you are interested in literature, Bungo Stray Dogs is for you! Hard to believe with such a pitch, but this anime full of action, humor and twists owes its success largely to its characters, all named and inspired by great authors, and whose powers bear the title of a of their books.

A romantic and suicidal Dazai Osamu, a dark Edgar Allan Poe with a passion for investigations, an inscrutable and intelligent Fyodor Dostoevsky, a morose but curious Arthur Rimbaud…

Each protagonist pays homage to the writers whose name they bear by making references to their literary heritage and their works. Entertaining and addictive!
