4.3 million spectators: this family saga is released in series today and it is as successful as the films!

Paramount+ is today putting online the live action series Knuckles, derived from the Sonic films, which features the red hedgehog with a strong character.

In 2020, Paramount+ achieved a very good box office score with Sonic, the live-action adaptation of Sega games. After having had to correct the design of the blue hedgehog, the studios still attracted more than 2 million spectators to French theaters for the first part (and 4.3 million cumulatively with the second).

In Sonic 2, the writers went even further in fan service by introducing two characters well known to players: Tails the yellow hedgehog and Knuckles, the red hedgehog. The three heroes are then forced to band together to beat a returned Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) ready for battle.

Returning Knuckles

And it is precisely the red hedgehog with a strong character who is at the center of a live action series, created for the Paramount+ platform. Even though it was designed for the small screen, Knuckles is just like the films: fun, light and action-packed. We find the champion shortly after the action of Sonic 2

Knuckles tries to get used to his life on Earth, alongside Sonic and Tails (both of whom we see in the first episode). When Wade (Adam Pally) is in trouble, he decides to help him become the champion he truly is, but he must also face a threat from outside.

The series takes place in Green Hills, like the films, and marks the return of certain characters (Wade, Maddie) but also new faces that parents will surely recognize, like Kid Cuddi and Rory McCann (the Mountain in Game Of Thrones). Christopher Lloyd lends his voice to Pachacamac, a great chief who belongs to Knuckles’ tribe. The latter is once again dubbed by Idris Elba.

Knuckles is six 30-minute episodes to binge now on Paramount+. An ideal entertainment to see with the family and to compensate for the wait for Sonic 3, expected in theaters this winter.
